The Father and Son Club
We create opportunities for fathers to spend time with their sons doing adventurous and creative activities together ranging from excursions and camps, to public speaking, robotics and web design.
Our Mission:
We want to help you develop a closer friendship with your boys, helping them grow during their boyhood, and preparing you to navigate their teenage years together as father and son.
How it Works:
The main activities are on Saturday afternoons, but we have some extraordinary activities like weekends away or the summer camp in December. To connect with dads in Pretoria and with dads in Johannesburg, click here.
To get the ball rolling, we place the boys in teams and run trivia questions by them alternating with more challenging questions and encourage to keep abreast with developments around them.
We begin with a short ten-minute lab with the boys. Topics typically include virtue or some aspect of character development. To keep things interesting we keep things as practical as possible. Every quarter, we have a longer talk with father and sons together and encourage fathers to use the talk as a way to talk about the topic with their son later.
As a final item, we do a team sport together (soccer, touch rugby or basketball) to get the boys to interact with each other and learn how to team up with others and build their collaboration skills.
